A group of dynamic youths who were originally members of Apex Club of Natore (An international Service Club) decided to establish a voluntary organization to render their best services for the society. It may be mentioned that the founders conceived the idea of serving less fortunate people of our society from Apex where they rendered their services and got training to become worthy citizens of the country.

They held several discussion meetings to find ways and means to establish the said organization. Finally on October 10, 1997 they declared the formation of the new organization and named it as ALWO.ALWO continued to arrange Health Services Camp in the remote areas of Natore District and planting tree saplings in different public places with the financial assistance of its founder members. In early 2001 it decided to be registered with the Department of Social Welfare of the Bangladesh government and it got the same on May 15,2001. The Regd. no.  is Nat./312/01. In June 2001 ALWO decided to launch Micro credit programme and finally the same began on August 04, 2001.

The initial capital for Micro credit loan was lent by 5 (five) founder members. During the 2002 and 2003 ALWO got attached with different networks e.g Khan Foundation, CDD, ARC-B etc. There was another breakthrough in the headway of ALWO to become a Partner Organisation (PO) of Palli Karma -Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) on November 29, 2003. In the meantime ALWO has developed different projects with its limited resources as Sanitation, Establishment of a Nursery, Educational support programmes for the destitute Children at Dighapatia Balika Shishu Sadan, Natore.

ALWO regularly arranged training programmes for its group members on different IGA. It started providing capacity building training for rural destitute women with the financial support of PANASI. Since then it has been providing the same training for the destitute women with the financial assistance of Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Australian High Commission (AHC). Conducting Non-Formal Education is another breakthrough in expansion of ALWO programs. The activities carried out and the programmes launched by ALWO have already been acclaimed in Natore district.
